APPLICATION PROCESS
We are thrilled that you would allow us to be a part of your adoption journey. All applications are welcome, but we are unable to award grants to all qualified applicants.
Application Deadline
There are four deadlines in the year; February 15, May 15, August 15 and November 15.
Your application is complete after you successfully submit your application, consent form, references and financial statement. Your application date is the day your complete application is received by Open Window Adoption Inc. If a portion of your application or references is incomplete, and you meet our eligibility requirements, you will be notified via email.
Notification
Chosen Applicant will be notified via email approximately 45 days after the application deadline.
If you are not awarded a grant, you may request, via email, to be rolled over to the next application deadline. In the email, please add any updated information to your application.
Eligibility Requirements
Before you apply:
You must have a current and completed homestudy.
You must affirm OWAI's Statement of faith (click on button below).
For International adoptions, the country must be a Hague Convention Country.
The adoptive parents must be married.
All documents (Consent Form, Application, Financial Statement and Reference Letters) must be included in your application packet.

WHEN WILL WE FIND OUT IF WE’RE A GRANT RECIPIENT?
The awarded applicant will be notified via email no later than 45 days post the application deadline.
HOW OFTEN CAN WE APPLY FOR THE GRANT?
If you have applied but have not been awarded a grant, you may reapply for the next quarter by simply notifying us via email. Make a request to please resubmit your application with any additional comments or information.
HOW DO WE RECEIVE THE ADOPTION GRANT FUNDS?
If awarded a grant, the money will be sent to the placing agency or attorney on behalf of the applicant within 14 business days after contact with the agency/attorney. The applicant will be notified when money has been sent.
IN WHAT AMOUNTS ARE THE ADOPTION GRANTS?
The adoption grants are $1,000.
WHAT IF MY ADOPTION IS COMPLETED DURING THE APPLICATION REVIEW PROCESS?
If you are traveling or have completed your adoption during the review process, it will not affect your consideration for the grant. Funds can be used to reimburse travel costs and adoption related payments.
MAY SINGLE PARENTS APPLY FOR AN ADOPTION GRANT?
No. Eligibility requirements are for married couples only.
CAN WE APPLY FOR A GRANT IF WE DO NOT HAVE A PLACING AGENCY OR ATTORNEY YET?
No. You must be working with a child-placing agency or attorney before applying for a grant. You also need to have an updated completed home study.
CAN I APPLY FOR A GRANT EVEN AFTER MY CHILD IS ALREADY IN OUR HOME?
Yes. As long as your home study is up to date and completed, you are still eligible for an adoption grant.
